This entire week was dedicated to my Team and their meet in Las Vegas. We were gone for 5 days. During these 5 days myself and my Teammates setup the meet platforms, sold t shirts, ran the door, spotted and loaded, did weigh ins everyday and a ton of other things Jesse needed from us. We worked our butts off but we also had fun, met some really great folks, stayed in the owners Penthouse! and won some gold and silver medals for our country!
This was a huge venue for a meet with over 500 lifters lifting and 25 different countries represented. The judging was tight like it should have been and they were gear checking everyone lifting especially if it was a world record lift. They even had a guy with a measuring tape measuring lifters knee wraps. If they were over 2.5 the lift did not count and a ton of folks were not getting world record squats due to long knee wraps. Not us though! Read the rules book!
Members of my Team lifted the first two days. My 198er Brandon Snowder lifted Day one in Raw bench only. Brandon went 3 for 3 on the bench hitting a 452 bench press at 198! He ended up winning and having the 2nd biggest bench coef of the day to boot!
Day 2 all 3 of my girls lifted. I was super proud of them. Shelley Yates, Melissa Byrd and Samantha Snowder all lifted Day 2 and had huge success. Shelley hit PR lifts on all her lifts and total, set 4 GPC world Records and won Gold. Melissa Byrd hit PR lifts on all her lift and total and won Silver and Samantha Snowder hit PR lifts on all her lifts and total and finished 4th!
Needless to say I am super proud of these lifters!
We took the red eye back to Atlanta, drove 4 hours home and then I went into hibernation for the next 5 days!
We have over 20 active lifters at Team Nebobarbell and each of them are having huge success. We now have 6 Nationally Ranked lifters, 5 sponsored lifters, 3 world champions, several national champions, 7 elite totals in 6 different weight classes and a support system like no other. We continue to do things the right way and the numbers and success don't lie. We have great people and no drama. I am very proud and honored to call these folks my Team/Family at Nebobarbell. We are just getting started....
