The older I get the more I realize how important taking care of my body is. I wished I would have taken the measure that I do now 20 years ago and maybe I wouldn't be in the condition that I currently am in now. Each week I try to add to my toolbox of things that will help my body recover week to week. The simple things such as eating correctly, eating frequently, staying hydrated and getting ample amounts of rest are usually the things that people over look the most and are the easiest things to fix. My focus on these four important details is higher now than they have ever been, and to me the most important.
There are some other things that you can control in your life that can help as well...staying away from pieces of shit people that cause you stress, not lifting with a hangover, taking on challenges one at a time are other things of value that can help your overall health. Stress is a killer. A physical killer. A emotional killer. And a motivation killer. Trying to keep stress in check can sometimes be a difficult task and not an easy thing to keep a handle on.
My stress over the last four months has been higher than it ever has been in my life. I feel like I am doing the other things that I have listed above, but my battle with stress in the one that I don't seem to be winning here lately. So while I may be doing the other things that I listed, this is the one thing that I cant seem to get a grip on. I know this dark cloud will go away one day but I just cant seem to get a grip on it. No matter where I go or how far I run that black cloud just seems to be looming.
Now don't get me wrong, there are still a lot of great things going on in my life right now, positive things. For one, Melissa and I after many years of being together have set a date to get married! We have set the date in August of this year which is exciting. Anytime you get to meet the woman of your dreams and know that you get to spend the rest of your life with her is exciting. Also my daughter Katelyn is graduating high school this year and continues to conquer every academic goal there is to accomplish. She will be heading to college this fall at ETSU to become a pharmacist. Another positive is that our gym/team is continuing to grow day by day week by week and month by month. I am very lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people that I care about and that care about me as well. So, as you can see it is not all bad. And its actually better than it is worse.
On a side note, we are coming along great getting everything settled in at my dads house. We have came along way from where we started twenty six months ago, I know my father would be proud. I still need to get some before and after pictures posted up so you can see where we started compared to where it is now, it has been quiet the change.
Enough of my rambling for now, now I will bore you with our rehab and supplemental training that we did today.
