I have gotten a little bit behind on my log entries but I have some legitimate reasons as to why. Going to the Bahamas, getting prepared to get married, finalizing small details for the wedding, getting married, recovering from our post party hangover, preparing training for my lifters and about a billion other things have gotten me behind. BUT IM BACK!

I must first go in reverse and get caught up before I can jump ahead. So with today's training I am doing something different with my squat routine this training cycle than what I have normally done in the past. If you follow me then most of you know I follow a reverse band program for my squats. I tapper down a band every two weeks using my projection number to take for a single with a band every two weeks up to the meet. Now on my off weeks or raw weeks I just kind of normally went through the motions and focused on my raw power. This go around on my "off weeks" I decided to use reverse band methodology on these weeks as well. This difference is I only use a light band every two weeks, I use my briefs, I use knee wraps and it gives me extra opportunity to work on my geared technique. I'm staying within a 75-85 % range while doing this.

Most people forget that even though I have been competing for 25 years that I have only done 4 full power meets. And those full power meets have been stretched over a ten year time period. I am a bench only guy and I still dabble in full power. With my limited experience in multiply squatting it takes me quite sometime to get the hang of it again. I truly have to relearn how to squat in gear. So my thought process in going into this training cycle instead of waistinng my light weeks on raw lifting, I would at least get in my briefs and work on my multiply stance and squat technique thus giving me more reps under the bar. I know a real ingenious idea.

Tonight I only worked up-to 775 in briefs and really hammered my pickup, my descent, opening my knees, remaining tight and controlling the weight. To me benching comes natural raw or shirted. Squatting in gear is like trying to figure our quantum physics and not even knowing what the hell quantum physics really is.

My back is definatley not 100% so I am using caution, listening to my body and trying to be as smart as possible. My focus is to remain healthy and to one day squat a thousand pounds before I retire from this sport. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away many nay sayers told me that I would never amount to anything in this sport. They also told me I would never bench 500 lbs raw. They also told me I would never bench 700 lbs in a shirt. They also said I would never bench 800 lbs in a shirt. They even mentioned that I would never hit an open elite raw total much less an multiply open elite total. But guess what, I did all those things and just a little bit more here and there along the way. Stay tuned....
