I recently lifted in the 2019 USPA National Championships where I totaled 1767 in wraps at 198 via a 655 squat, 451 bench and 661 deadlift. Next up is an off-season and picking a meet.
1. Squat - Up to 460 + 6 chains for sets of 5. This ended up being a little heavier than I intended to go, but a little bit of shit talk in the gym meant another set and more weight was done. We have a great crew these days, where we all know each other's hot buttons. With a planned deload next week and things moving well, I didn't see any harm in going up for another set.
2. Deadlift- Block pulls up to 530 x 3. I really had no desire to do this work, I was spent from squatting. Again, the shit talk got me through. Something about "Aren't you tired of so and so out totaling you?"
3. Suspended Squats - 325 x 3 x 4
4. Sissy Squats - 25 pounds, 3 x 15
5. Ab wheel roll outs
Picking a meet
I haven't decided what to do yet. There is a meet in November that is tempting over in Detroit. That would cut my off season a little short though and I need to make sure my pec is ready to go before committing. I'm traveling for work right now and decided to just skip any pressing this week to deload. Chiro appointment on Friday. My plan is to test the waters next week and things aren't perfect shut it down and wait until December to do a meet. If next week goes well, a November meet will be on the table.
