December proved to be an amazing meet for me! I hit my first 800+ lb. total, and went 9/9. My goal now is to beat my previous numbers by a 5-10% increase, and out-perform my last meet in every area. I am prepping for the XPC Finals in Columbus, OH. following the Minimalist/M2 Method by Brian Schwab. Brian has been my coach for just over a year now. The following logs are documenting my progress utilizing his training methods.

Whaddap.

So ever since deadlift day on Thursday I have been experiencing some major glute pain. I pulled 305 for two doubles and I definitely pulled something in my hamstring on the second set (not crazy - just  a little).

If anyone knows me, they know I have had serious issues with my SI joint. It's a little hypermobile and tends to pop out a lot even with very light force, so that was definitely a partial cause of my pain. But this leads me to the title of my post...yoga is seriously the bomb-diggity. Any issues I seem to have with pain can and have been solved by doing more yoga. It's a powerlifter's best friend.

On my usual 20-minute walk to the gym my glute was really angry. At the start of my workout I was worrying about being able to squat tomorrow. But after my benching I cooled down with a solid 35 minutes of intense back and hamstring release, and my glute is as good as new.

Thank you,  Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (founder of Ashtanga Yoga, for the unaware).
