Yea, we all know how that goes. How about this??? Instead of waiting for your "Participation trophy" you get back to work, only harder.
I don't take new people into my program until February. Why? Because in the past I will spend most of my time teaching the new folks taking away time for the people who have been there only to have the newbie walk away within a 19-day time period.
How is that fair? It's NOT!
I tell those people that they can "Try out" for a spot on the first of February. They usually give me a look like "what is this guy talking about? The heck with that." To which I respond, "You may want to spend time running and doing push-ups, pull-ups, and some sit-ups until then. You don't want to come in here like a total train wreck".
IF they come back (and many do) I give them a three-day tryout. Then I might consider them for a spot in the gym.
Now, I'm not talking about being a superior athlete, or the strongest guy or gal. NOPE...the question has to be answered, "would I hang out with them at the lunch table in kindergarten?" OR...what are they bringing to the table?
I know I can make people stronger, faster, more enduring, smarter, and in most cases, even better looking (I've done it) but what qualities are THEY coming into one of my groups with? Do they contribute to the dynamics of that team? Are they FUN to hang out with or are they going to "take" away from the group?
THAT'S why I have people that will STILL write or call me 40+ years later.
I don't believe in starting things on a Monday, or the beginning of the month, or whatever, especially in the New Year. I believe if you get a notion to do something, NOW is as good a time as any to start to pursue it.
A New Year a New YOU? Fuck that! You didn't need to wait until today. You could have started way back in June!
Time to get to it!

Now let's get busy building HURT'N BOMBS
Today's Training:
AirDyne: 10/10/10 minutes; Legs Only/Arms and Legs/Arms Only
Cycle: Commute
Dynamic Deadlift (Double Overhand only): Use the FatGripz or an Axl fat bar. 10x2x50% ish Because the fat bar or grip will reduce the overall weight of the Deadlift, this plays perfectly into our hands (Pun intended). Once the weight gets "light on the floor"(which you may NOT feel because there isn't much flex in the bars) you then accelerate your body to the full upright and locked position. The bar should be set HARD against your hips.
45-degree back extension: 3x12
Ab Wheel: 3x15
Cycle: Commute
