I had this conversation with one of my introverted athletes this morning about being ok with who he is.

Over the last few weeks, I noticed this young man didn't have the same old snap to his step. His line of sight had gone from out on the horizon to about four inches in front of his big toe.

His entire demeanor seemed to be sinking like the Titanic. When I asked him how he was doing, he would give me a one- or two-word, uninspiring answer.

Understand I had recognized a few years ago that he was a bit of an introvert and always gave him space, but things seemed a little bit different, so me being me, I asked him "Who sat on your peanut butter and jelly sandwich?". I got a smile and then an answer.

It seems as if he were being pestered by many to do a variety of things, and some of those things were plain BULLSHIT to me to ask any "KID" to do.

Because I didn't have a lot of time to spend counseling the young man, (Summertime is an unbelievably busy time in my gym) I gave him this piece of advice..."Don't be afraid of who you are. Someone out there needs to meet someone like YOU!"

I don't know how deep that went, but it seemed to me to ease some of his concerns.

Remember, YOU are indeed PERFECT (after all, God doesn't make junk) for someone at some time in their life. YOU are the right tool for a specific job that only YOU can accomplish.

Don't forget to drink plenty of water (and you sure can add a little salt to it)
