I was just this very minute chatting with Vincent D.  We were swapping our daily accountabilities when we came up with a "ah-ha" moment.

Instead of looking way down the road to what you want out of the program you are doing, turn that focus inward.  IE...

1. Focus on each rep.  The technique, duration, FEEL of it.  Can you get more out of it on the NEXT rep?

2. Focus next on the entire set of each rep.  How did you do?  Could you have gotten more out of that set?  Could you have performed it any better? What is the recovery needed?

3. The next focus should go to the entire SESSION.  What could you do more effectively?  Did this session contribute to the overall goal of what you are trying to accomplish?  What progression are you planning on NEXT?   Do you need to REST?  Do you need to callous your mind?  Do you need a slap on the ass to get you going? Giddy-up!!!

If you go back to the simplest thing...the REP, all the other things will fall into place.

As Bruce Lee has said, "A punch is just a punch.  Then it becomes so much more.  Then it becomes just a punch again in the end".
