My son's hockey team has been struggling compared to the team we had last year.  This has been both bad and GOOD!

While winning a State Title and going undefeated for such a long time, we have more TIES this season than wins or losses.

We went to the President's Tournament this past weekend in Arizona with what I have considered a "band of misfits" and actually won the entire tournament.  Go figure?

What was the difference?  I would like to believe it was the head coach's pre game talk after mine that dialed the young men in.

I have the responsibility of pre game warm ups along with my dry land training.  During that pre game I give a "pep talk" of my own doing then share it with the head coach who can (and does) whatever he wants.

I mentioned to the boys who have had a struggle with the basics to forget about what it is you can't do, and focus 100% on what you can!

If you have a responsibility...fulfill it 100%.  If you are a puck digger, DIG OUT PUCKS.   If you are a pass catcher and assist getter, catch passes and assist others.  If you are a skater and a scorer...DO THAT!

Coach emphasized that and hammered home the TRUST issues.

Trust yourself!  Trust you team mates!  Trust your coaches.

Well, they did!

My wife, April was struggling with a few challenges at work.  I lent the same recommendations.  Do what you do BEST....forget about the distractions that pop up. (know the difference between important and urgent)  Be professional, be polite, (and have a plan to kill everyone) and have an exit strategy.

Same conversation took place no fewer times than three this very morning with participants in my program.

Concluding with the old Marine Corps motto, "Adjust, Adapt, and Overcome"

Make the adjustments necessary to do the things you do well and get them down

Adapt to each challenge and apply 100% effort 100% of the time

Overcome or just fucking WIN!

Be a winner and WIN!

Your issue might not be chasing a banner today.  However, in the long run it is about WINNING!

Although you are suppose to learn from your mistakes and losses, I would rather remain ignorant and or stupid and bring home CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Go get YOURS.
