I wanted to play pro football. My son wants to play pro hockey. I didn't make it to the pro's but perhaps my son can. What is the difference?
For starters we aren't the tallest players on the roster, but where I found an excuse, I use it to encourage my boy. "Until you reach puberty, you will always be the shortest. Once you pass through that growth period, you'll be short but you certainly won't be SMALL"
Yes, 1% continue to the pro level of any sport. Its a tough road for sure, and the chances or odds never look good, but I know what it takes. I know the countless hours of what seems like wasted practice time. I know the boring sets and reps that have to be overcome. I know the tears of pain from heart and lungs aching. I know how to encourage and not only endure but prevail!
I can take my son if he's serious as far as he can go.
While the goal remains the same, will he make it? I can't answer that, but it sure won't be for the lack of giving it everything HE has, and what I KNOW!
