Matt Rhodes explained one time, why he uses the double overhand grip with his athletes while dead lifting. Simple...Their grip will let go far before the low back or any of those big primary muscles do.
I thought..WOW! A built in safety.
So on top of the double overhand today, I opted for the AXEL bar too.
Two things I like, there is NO flex in the axel. There is NO whip when you know how to Whip a bar. Second thing I like is the GRIP strength gets TRASHED.
The ONE thing I don't like??? You get a major dose of HUMBLE PIE.
That 500+ Dead Lift comes WAY down in number. It makes the session go faster, but you are DONE quickly.
This is Sean O'Keefe's set up. He's not pulling yet, but you can see his forearms are already being strained by that thick bar.
We worked these bad boys up to a three rep max and then performed two more sets after.
There were also, GHR's and Prowlers today.
GHR: 3x12
Prowler: 8x40 for another 320 yards.
Pull up totals=1904
Push Up totals=2281
Dip Totals-3283
Prowler Totals: 9640 yards
