I just read a statement that said something like perfection implies built-in criticism --- built-in criticism not just from ourselves and others but just from life in general. ⁣

We all know it doesn’t exist (well, most do), and I think we all get the the objective isn’t ever about trying to be perfect. ⁣

But to what extent? ⁣

With this known, others tell us to raise our standards and expectations. To what end, and why? To be closer to perfect? ⁣

Many people’s identities get caught up in this and miss the point entirely.⁣

Do we strive for self-actualization to become the best at what we do, or do we do so to overcome all the adversity that comes with the journey to exist in a more aware sense of being and purpose? ⁣

Your skill, craft, talent, or trade is not your purpose - they are simply one tool you have to display it. ⁣

We are left with - what is our purpose? ⁣

If you strip away all the ties that bind, is this not simply to help others?⁣

I have many reasons to write this, but who says you have to use your best talent, your best ability? You could be the best writer in the world but who says you have to write? Your given, earned, worked your a** off for ability or whatever you want to call it is NOT something you are obligated to use. It’s your choice if you do. ⁣

Try to live a life without ever helping or being helped by others. ⁣

I hope you can see there is a difference between purpose and choice. How much stress is created by confusing the two?⁣
