I was having a Coach to Coach conversation today with a younger fella who is in fact a Varsity Level Coach.
He was lamenting to me how the area's kids are "soft". They can't take criticism, and under pressure they fold.
We discussed further how parents disabled their sweethearts into one of the reasons we have a phrase that everyone has jumped on, "The Pussification of America".
I am very critical of this generation which we call "Millennials" from their lack of common courtesies to their work ethic. I believe they are both Ignorant as well as Stupid. (Ignorance is doing something wrong because you haven't been taught the right way. Stupid is the continuation of the behavior even after the fact, expecting a different result)
In either case, what I told the young coach was this; I truly believe that the pendulum has swung so far to the left in all of it's Political Correctness, that it has reached the point of critical or terminal extension to that side. I also believe that you will start to see it swing back the other way due in part to this saturation.
I then went on to say, that I believe EVERYTHING is cyclical. The issue is many of us don't have the patience to wait for it to swing the other way and we are upset by the current status.
Just WAIT! But be cautious what you are asking for. It will swing back to center for sure. But then...it will continue on it's path the OTHER way as well.
Feast vs. Famine, Flood vs. Drought...it all happens because THAT is the balance of things!
