Never get tired of reading stuff like this. Group training may have been lost but it’s not forgotten and will make a comeback when people realize how much more it can help.

8 years ago I hit an all-time PR, twice in the same day. First being a 600lb squat, and second being 650. Up to this day I had squatted 580 once in competition in full gear. 600 moved fast & one of the guys in the group said 50 more was there. At that time 600 was a physical and mental barrier. 650 was beyond uncharted territory. I was having difficulty unracking the weight. A.)It was a weight I had never been under previously, this was a mental barrier B.) I was unracking the bar with too much force, causing instability-Techincal barrier.

After my first failed attempt to unrack (not even squat the weight) jim said "maybe its just too heavy" Dave told the crew to unwrap my knees and he gave me some cues on getting the bar out. In 5 minutes i was rewrapped and under the bar. This time everything was stable and it moved well. This all culminated in a 70lb PR. I hadnt even been training for. Months before i had visited the folks at IFAST for evaluation and corrective programming. This was the first time i "tested the waters" since doing their program.

Dave talks about the importance of a training crew for this very reason. I believe my numbers would be ahead of where they are now if i was training in a group. However I have been fortunate to surpass these numbers in time and with less gear. I am forever thankful for the influence of @elitefts in the strength community. As they are an organization that literally stands behind their customers. #elitefts #ifast #squat #physicaleducation
