Today, on my bike ride home, I thought I'd have a bit of fun with the people that I see regularly on my route.  We pass the same faces daily and occasionally we might nod or smile.  So I thought I would add to that and actually say something that most folks will say in passing..."how are you?"  Only today, I hit the brakes and waited for a response.

Those that know me, know that I am rather short, but about the same width as I am high.  I wear a close cropped beard that is more salt than it is pepper these days, and a "Punisher" hat in desert camo to protect my hairless dome from the sun.  Shorts, no shoes and sunglasses.  In other words, I resemble a life size lawn gnome only with a thicker neck and traps.

This made for some interesting responses.  Two people averted eye contact the moment I stopped to listen to their answer.  One guy became disoriented and confused and immediately returned to his I Phone.  Two well dressed ladies asked "what?", and ONE lovely couple, a bit older actually began to tell me HOW THEY WERE DOING!

I listened to them for a few minutes, swapped some pleasantries encouraged them to continue being the most fun couple of the day and left as a better person for having giving a RIP.

I think tomorrow, I will set my goal of TWO people that I will gather "how they are doing."
