"I run my unit how I run my unit. You want to investigate me, roll the dice and take your chances. I eat breakfast 300 yards from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill me, so don't think for one second that you can come down here, flash a badge, and make me nervous."

Col. Jessep

This quote from the movie "A Few Good Men" comes to mind every time I hear of people breaking my Rule #67 (No Complaining)

Every now and again I know that the groups need to take a step back from the red lined throttle and breakneck speeds I have them pushing.

Every so often, I will make the workout seem TOO EASY in order to force some to back off so they can continue to advance and NOT injure themselves.

When those folks voice their opinions and say they can do more, or push it harder, they have the option.  They can go home and do whatever it is they like or even go into a few other exercises in the gym as long as they don't hit the same thing we've been doing.

But to complain about it and think I'm jipping them out of performance, then I believe it's time for them to remember this ISN'T my first rodeo.

If you are a special little snowflake (just like everyone else) that can go 110%  one hundred and ten percent of the time, then sign the multi year, multi million dollar contract and give me your #1 jersey for my wall.

Otherwise, I suggest you continue to listen to me and not hurt yourself.

Conversely, I give out exercises that people don't necessarily LIKE or like to do.  Why?  Because they NEED them and SHOULD do them in order to make themselves stronger.

If you always do, what you've always done, you'll get what you already have.  If you want to make changes in your life, you need to make changes in your life.

Normally speaking, the exercises that are hated are the ones that we suck at.  We suck at them because we don't do them.  If we DID them, we wouldn't be weak in that area, and we wouldn't SUCK at them.

Lastly, to know and not to do, is really not to know.  For if they KNEW they would DO...without so much as a complaint.

Well...at least I feel better.  Hungry, but better.

"

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
