There was a plan to mitigate weight gain on vacation, but I did not plan on losing weight. Much like many things in life, God laughs while man plans.

Long story short, I have a time share in Aruba. Due to family, covid, and issues with our beloved Buddha, we had not been since 2017.

As I am not fan of leaving the heat to go the heat I use the time share as more of an investment as I rent it out yearly. However, since Jess and I have not seen the place since it's been renovated we decided to go.

I will start with, Aruba is great! That said, I have changed. I am not someone who just likes to sit and relax on vacation. I like adventure.

Within the first hour of being on the beach I felt like we had made a mistake. It was hotter than satan's balls and very crowded. I don't like noise, crowds, and heat. Quickly we needed to either hop back on a plane or formulate a plan.

While traveling I hate eating out for all of my meals. It leaves me feeling like crap. So we packed tuna, 647 bagels, protein powder and a bunch of carb balance tortilla wraps. Knowing there where was a little shop on the premises we bought eggs, bacon, cheese, and a few other snacks.

The plan was to eat most breakfasts and lunches in the room. We were not depriving ourselves becasue we very much enjoy bacon, egg, and cheese wraps for breakfasts and tuna on bagels for lunch.

Couple all of this information together. The plan was to move a lot, find some adventure, and eat and drink whatever we wanted in the evenings.

The movement part was easy. Jess and I walked to the beutiful beach many times a day. We also decicded to always take the stairs to our place on the sixth floor. On average, we ended up doing 500 stairs a day and well over 20,000 steps. One day we had logged over 11 miles.

Jess and I drank and watched the sun set over the ocean every night. One of our favorite things. We did a sunset booze and rope swing cruise. Your boy can still humbly throw a backflip from a rope swing in his mid fifties with a buzz on I might add, not too shaby.

During our many activities we went on a utv excursion, cliff jumping, visited an aminal sanctuary, went night swimming, ate great meals, etc. We had a blast.

When I got home and hopped on the scale I was honestly surprised I lost weight. That was never the idea. I just knew sweating my ass off, getting drunk, and fat while laying on the same beach all day was not going to make me happy in the moment and even more so when I got home.

In the end it might not have been the vacation I would have chosen. However, we had a great time at our own Aruban fat camp.

To some this probably comes off as inane blathering. I just know since losing over 100 lbs and keeping it off people seem to glean different things from my journey. I hope someone gets something from this.
