This really isn't old School as it's from the early 90's, but it's Old School based on today.

This is a good morning - squat. This clip was from one of the early WSBB videos that's been remade twice since this one. This hybrid movement came about after a good morning max effort session between myself and author lifter. As we worked up and the weight got hard he started to squat after the descent. He figured this would allow him to lift more weight, thus beat the rest of us. To not be beaten I did the same and we worked up to around 725 for a single.

The next day we were tore up from traps to calves so this became a new good morning variation. This "cheating" is actually a form of what's known as chaos training.

Other Notes:

I don't tell many people to max out on it at all. The only issue I've had with others doing it is their form goes to shit after 3-5 so I have them really drop the tempo. I've seen this be the case with almost all hybrid movements. They start out really nice and then turn into a mess. I'm not posting this to you as I know you get the purpose of movements like this. I'm posting to those others that see it and think - cool - I have to do this. To them, I'd suggest, learn to squat properly first, then learn to do a proper good morning. Then - if your intermediate lifter use this as an accessory movement.
