It's been a minute since I posted an Operation Be Less Fat log. Fortunately for me, I'm still less fat. The right pic is one from just the other day.

Recently I spent an entire year reverse dieting. After more or less being in a calorie deficit for over a decade, my body was revolting. My maintenance calories were low and I felt terrible.

Over the course of the year I built my calories back up. Along with the calories came an additional 20 lbs. Some of it muscle, some of it not.

Feeling good I am slowly leaning back out. I alternate between two weeks in calorie deficit and two weeks in calorie maintenance.

Alternating between the two has many advantages. First and most important, it causes less hormonal damage. You are not fighting a constant uphill battle.

However, my favorite advantage is that the increase in calories going back to maintenance makes me feel like I'm actually cheating on my diet. Coming off a diet always feels great. Imagine doing it every two weeks.

Another cool benefit is, after two weeks of maintenance, I am excited to get back to cutting. I no longer feel depleted and am ready to go.

If you're struggling with dieting, you might want to give this a try.
