This blog isn't exactly about weight loss like most of my OBLF posts, but it definitely relates. I'm talking about gut health. I know, it sounds like another buzz word. However, I can assure you, gut health is a thing.
Being stuck at home like most of us, I have had more time to think about sh!t both figuratively and literally. Although not a topic I usually share, I am a pretty "regular" guy. Thankfully it's a big improvement from when I looked like the guy on the left. Let's just say things weren't as pleasant as they are now.
Why am I writing about this you ask? With being home, my diet has had a few changes. I am a little less routinized than usual because I have more time to prepare things at home. Usually, there are a few staples Jess and I get ready for the week. One of them is a yogurt and berry parfait I would eat daily. For those who don't know it, yogurt is full of probiotics and is great for your gut.
For whatever reason, I have not been eating my parfaits. Guess what hasn't been as good lately? Yep, my bathroom trips. To put it politely, they have required more clean up than usual. On top of my body not being as efficient, I certainly don't want to use more toilet paper than necessary during this time of shortage.
In all seriousness, since eating a much better diet my body and leather cheerio are much happier. If you are not a bigger person with flexibility issues, you probably won't understand what I'm talking about and I hope you never do. If you have a beat-up backside, you might want to take a closer look at your gut health.
Lastly, to truly bring this back to Operation Be Less Fat, there are links between gut bacteria and weight loss. Among a few of the top reasons, having good gut health can influence how your body digests food and that can play a part in losing weight. It can also help prevent inflammation which can cause you to gain weight.
So whether you're looking to save up on that white gold pictured above, lose a few pounds or both, you might want to consider your gut health.
