Just got back from a little birthday celebration vacation for the wife. It was the the first time in a long time I did not count a single calorie. I'd say it was liberating, but it wasn't. The food and alcohol made me feel pretty lousy.
Meanwhile I have been d!cking around a bit for the past few months with getting back in better shape. I have taken a few pounds off, but I have not leaned into being uncomfortable at all. When you want to get around 10% or lower bodyfat, uncomfortable is what it takes. Especially when you were a former chunker like myself.
I'm about a month out from going to Casa De Muerte, better known as Wendler's house. He, Rhodes, and I are getting together for our annual big boy sleepover. That's where they force me to eat Popeye's and pizza. Kind of, but not really.
With that in mind it's a good time to get my act together and buckle down for the next four weeks. What does that entail you ask? Hitting every workout. That's three full body lifting days and three one hour conditioning sessions a week. Also, counting every calorie and staying in a deficit for the full month.
When I competed in powerlifting it was much easier to get focused when getting ready for a meet. Buckling down just to get in shape doesn't have the same pull, but I'm going to focus.
Maybe you want to get in shape for the summer. Try challenging yourself for a solid month. Don't expect miracles, but good things can happen in four weeks.
