I will start with this, I have no formal background in nutrition. All of my knowledge is based off what I read and what I have experienced. That said, I think I am in the minority when it comes to successfully dieting. I have taken off 130 lbs and have kept off well over 100 lbs for years now.

Recently I completed what could be the final leg of my loss. I wanted to see anything under 200 by the end of 2020 and I did. My weekly weight average ended up a little over 201.8 lbs. Since that time I have been reversing out of my diet and slowly increasing calories.

I am presently up on average 200 calories a day and am still dropping weight. My average weight this week is 200.8. So in the last couple of weeks I have added calories and lost a lb. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

It would seem like math would dictate that I shouldn't be losing weight anymore. Not that 200 calories is a lot, it's still an increase. So why am I still losing weight?

I strongly feel the fact that I am no longer stressing about losing weight is helping it to continue to melt off. I am understanding cortisol more and the role it plays in my diet and in training. If you are struggling with weight loss, it's something to consider.

A few weeks ago going into that final push to get under 220 I was killing myself with diet and training. I kept adding in more work and my weight loss stalled. I was getting so stressed. Then after touching base with some confidants who told me I was doing too much, I backed off the training and I was able to lose that last bit.

With that final push and now the increase in calories where the weight continues to drop, I don't need further evidence to teach me how important understanding and dealing with stress is.
