I just hit an awesome milestone. My bodyweight is down to 208.5 which is now 120 lbs lighter than my heaviest. For those of you who have not followed my journey, this has been going on for the better part of nine years now.

Often I’ll espouse why I have succeeded where over 95% fail when trying to lose weight. It starts with the fact that I’m not in a rush. The last time I rushed to lose weight, I dropped 40 lbs in three months only to gain it all back and then some.

Another reason is that I learned there’s no one best nutritional approach out there to losing weight. It’s the approach that you believe in and can follow that works best.

You see, when I lost that 40 lbs so quickly and then put it all back on, I learned. That’s what’s great about mistakes, you can really learn from them. What I learned was, there’s no end to a diet. So whatever approach you use, be prepared to continue with it for the rest of your life.

If you think keto is great, then do it. However, when you hit your goal weight, what’s your plan to maintain? If it’s not keto, then why are you doing it?

Do you want to go paleo? Awesome. Again, are you going to stay paleo for the rest of your life?

Are you starting to see a trend here? Mind you, I’m not putting down any diet. Also, you can transition from any diet, but certainly not to what you were doing before you lost the weight. So you’d better plan for an out.

So what diet is right for you? Sorry, I can’t answer that, only you can. The good news is, there is so much free information out there it’s amazing. There are calculators and apps galore. Just find an approach that makes you think “I can do that, and I can do it for a long time.” That’s the right diet for you.
