Monster Garage Gym/Maroscher Coaching Log: (Log number LVI). “RAW Squat And Deadlift Training With Chains”
________________________________________
The purpose of this log is to show you training footage of a squat and deadlift session that utilizes chains for accommodating resistance.

The accompanying video captures the Sunday Crew members of the MAROSCHER POWERLIFTING TEAM at MONSTER GARAGE GYM as they squat and deadlift. Specifically, their session is broken down into two major parts; first being RAW box squat off a 15” box out of an EliteFTS monolift with chains as accommodating resistance suspended from a buffalo bar.

We show you this specific combination of elements to this squat session as it might be something you have yet to incorporate into your training and this video we hope will serve as an illustration of this particular movement for those interested in this form of squat training.

The buffalo bar is used to take the stress off of the lifters shoulders as the angle of the bar somewhat looks like the bell-shaped-curve and with the placement of the hands lower than with a traditional barbell, the stress is greatly reduced on the shoulder area. The squatters are working out of the EliteFTS deluxe monolift as to take away the variable of having to walk the weight out. The chains are added once the working set weight is reached. Chains are added with each subsequent set but it is important to note that never is the chain weight greater than 50% of the total amount of weight being squatted.

Regarding the RAW deadlift portion of the training, which follows the squat, the same concept applies to the use of the chains, thus the chains are added once the working set weight is reached. Chains are added with each subsequent set but it is important to note that never is the chain weight greater than 50% of the total amount of weight being squatted.

Adding chains as a form of accommodating resistance can work to enhance either or both your squat and deadlift program. *Each chain is approximately 6’ long and weighs approximately 22LBS when suspended completely off of the floor. The weight of the leader chain when squatting is negligible.
