Since I am getting ready for the Wendler 5/3/1 NOV Invitational Meet, I have turned up my training. I deadlifted heavier yesterday than I have in a long time. Mind you, heavier is a relative term. It's nowhere near what I used to lift. I know, excuses, excuses. Anyway, I am feeling a little beat up this morning. Not injured, just sore.
Now this is only the start of my one month meet prep cycle. I know I need to get ahead of this feeling or it is only going to compound in the weeks to come. So the first thing I did this morning when I got into work was get down on the ground to do some bird dogs. Next I got up and did some leg swings. Big secret, just getting up and down off the ground is mobility work. I also keep a band at work so I did some good mornings, face pulls, rows, and pullaparts. This all took me less than five minutes and I feel markedly better than before I did them.
You don't always have to do a lot to feel better, you just have to do something. It's like programming in that there's no perfect programming, just do work.
