It's no secret that I believe in being tough.  Yes, there are those that bigger, stronger, and faster, but rarely have I met someone that's work ethic is at the step beyond "doing what ever it takes".

I have spoken about "The Decision" and that was because I don't have the physical attributes others have, to be competitive if you were going to beat me (because I refuse to lose) you would have to be willing to DIE for the cause.  Why? Because I am willing to DIE for it.  The decision I made was you will never out WORK me.  I have had many try, and I am by no means being conceded on this issue, but I don't know of ONE person other than myself that wakes up at 0300 to begin the process, and will not quit until the objectives of the day have been met.

TOUGH?

I also refuse to adhere to PAIN.  I am one with a very HIGH pain tolerance.  I've had 3rd degree burns, torn muscles that probably need surgical reattachment and a variety of other hits, collisions, rips, tears and POPS that would make most QUIT!

I've been ripped from shore in rip tides that have carried me miles from the starting spots.  I have crashed bicycles at high speeds.  I've done just about as many STUPID things that challenged death as any thrill seeker should.

In raising my son, Hunter, I have told him often of Rule #67 which states..."Do NOT Complain"

He lives by it as my wife and I do.

This past Sunday, Hunter plays one of his BEST Lacrosse games ever. Scored Two goals and had Three assist.  He ran every missed shot down to give his team "possession" on more occasions.

The turf temp was approaching triple digits and he never slowed down.  Got himself a pretty nice  Farmer's Sun Burn (can't call it that really) for his efforts.

After the game, he and April were going to head over to the Ice Rink to practice skating skills.  (Remember, April was in pursuit of Olympic Figure Skating Dreams at one time) They got to the rink and Hunter asked his mom if they could go home.

He NEVER complains, so when he told us that his stomach was bothering him,  the standard questions and recommendations were offered.

Did you go to the bathroom?  No!  Then, go sit on the toilet!  You'll feel better.

NOPE

You're dirty and scummy and dehydrated from the Lax Game.  Take a bath and drink more water.

Did it!  It did jack shit to his condition.

When I asked him to SHOW me where it hurt, he reached for his lower belly on the right side.

PHOQUE ME!

A  couple field tests that I performed told me what I feared.

APPENDIX!

I responded with an order to April, "Get his clothes, get ID and insurance...we're going to the hospital NOW.  He's going to need these removed.

After the doctor did the usual tests, then a sonogram and an X ray, it was confirmed.  "Get the room ready, those need to come out"

I KNEW it.

So the tough kid so very stoically adapts to the situation, gets jabbed with IV's and gets game face ready for the arthoappendectomy.

It was over in 45 minutes.  Shit! You can't even get your car's oil changed that fast.

In the recovery room, while trying to wake him, they gave a direct order..."Hunter! You need to get up now."  Meaning open your eyes lil' dude.  But my guy HOPS up and is ready to GO!

They keep him overnight to make sure he passes the objectives to go home.

1. Pass Gas

2. Off the IV pain relief and fluids

3. Walk around

4. Pee

5. Eat without throwing up

He was eating a burger within two hours of the op.  Was ready to tear out the IV's since they went in.  Got up and did lap after lap, albeit SLOWLY..but he did them, burped and farted no problem.

We were OUTTA there.

So when I see College student whining about a safe space.  Those panty waste better HOPE not to run into this 9year old.

He may scare them into a space that they may never return from.
