Rule #7  Know the difference between what is important and what is urgent.  My wife and child are the utmost of importance.  I make no bones about it.  They will supersede even my own needs.  What is directly in front of me is what takes priority of urgency.

Example; Many people have questions that need answering during my day.  They come to me as their resource.  Person A is in front of me and we are discussing the details when Person B shows up and is fidgeting to hurry me up.  Person B will have to wait as their is nothing more urgent than the person I am addressing no matter HOW long the dialog takes.

THAT dialog can be eclipsed if an EMERGENCY arises as that now is more IMPORTANT!

Everyone wants your time when they want it.  Nothing should be more urgent than what you are currently doing, as then your ability to manage your time sucks!

When a person pulls out their cell phone to text message another person, I make it a point to quote Joey from the T.V. show "Friends" with "HARRY DON'T SHARE"!!!!  Unless that person is more important than your one hour with me, then put the phone away.  No video taping, no selfies, nada, zilch, nothing.

I value that time!  It is IMPORTANT!

The list of Importance is based on your Core Values.

If you don't have a list of Core Values, then I just gave you an extremely IMPORTANT homework task.
