Monster Garage Gym/Maroscher Coaching Log: By MGG owner, 2-Time WPC World Powerlifting Champion, Eric Maroscher. (Log number XXI).

This installment of the MONSTER GARAGE GYM/Maroscher Coaching Log features the #3 Ranked Women’s RAW bencher at 181LBS, Kristin Johnson (275LBS RAW bench at 181LBS).

Note before I begin this particular coaching log: Kristin just had her hair all shaved off the day before, as a symbol of support for a friend who is getting ready to shave his head as he prepares for some serious medical treatments. I put the video of that on this log too (in addition to her training video) as some people use their strength for competitions, and some like Kristin, use their strength to compete but also support those around her that she cares for. Bottom line, Kristin is a pretty amazing woman, friend and powerlifter and the MGG sends support and positive energy to her friend as well as he prepares for his own battle.

The purpose of this log is to show you a day in the training life of one of today’s top women benchers in the 181LB RAW division. Kristin works up to a 285LB press (60LB EliteFTS Sabertooth Bench Bar) on her heavy bench night. Although one of the top benchers, Kristin also competes full power and is currently in training for the Illinois Strongest Man/Women Competition. Last year she qualified for the NAS Strongman/Woman National in Vegas.

Although there is nothing “fancy” or “flashy” to her training method, the results speak loudly as often some get caught up in the method rather than the plain old fashioned work, weight, volume, technique and consistency that goes into a solid, no frills, high yield training program.
