This motto has been in every location we’ve worked out of and is painted in giant letters for everyone to see if they come into the office or weight room.

Back Story

That’s my son in the picture, and it took forever to get the shot. He wouldn’t sit still and at the time, never did. I finally decided to put a ball on the box between his legs, and he settled down and stopped throwing a fit while screaming and thrashing around. He then finally sat still for about two seconds.
I wanted this picture because I thought it would be so cool to retake it when he was old enough to play football and squat that weight.

That’s where the Someday I Will...came from. It was “MY” wish for him. My “someday”, not his.

It wasn’t long after that we discovered he had ASD. After that, it wasn’t about whether or not he would squat five plates, but it became a question of whether or not he would even speak? Will he be able to communicate his thoughts? What about school? Friends? It would take forever to list all the “someday worries” that came to mind and all of the ones that still do. All the things I thought I wanted for him no longer mattered. They were no longer my “somedays” but were his.

Because of him, I began to see that ad, those words and supportive statements as something much bigger than “me”. It became a universal “we”.

 
We all have our own...someday I will. It’s ours, we own it, work for it, strive for it and will become it.

We will prepare with all we have. We will perform to the best of our ability, and we WILL prevail.
As a father it’s my job and role to teach and provide for my kids for the future. In this case, they’ve taught me more than I may ever be able to give them. I realized the world didn’t revolve around me.
