All I needed to know about life, I learned in the gym.
It didn’t take me long to realize people always talk shit in the gym. It was part of the culture I grew up training in and is something I still do to my best ability today.
One thing that I realized pretty quickly was you didn’t talk shit about what you were going to lift or do. You just put in the work and did all you could to make it happen. However, if predictions came out or if someone started bragging about their “gym strength”, it was always shut down by someone saying, “take it to the meet”. At that point, there was nothing else to say because what you say or do in the gym doesn’t mean shit on meet day if you didn’t do the right things, aka, the work that “needed” to be done.
The point is you can say all you want, have great days in the gym, brag your ass off, but all of that doesn’t mean a damn thing if you can’t take it to the meet where it really matters.
In business, you can be the most popular person on any social media platform, your town, or the company you work at, but if this doesn’t directly transfer to the bottom line, it doesn’t mean shit and is doing more to distract you from your progress than helping you to get there. You can work your ass off doing the wrong things and it won’t move you forward.
You can talk all you want to those your really close to but if you don’t talk about “real” shit the relationship will die.
What you do in the gym, work, and life needs to be building towards what matters most not what’s always the easiest and most fun to do.
Take it to the meet!
