Single task.  That's me.  I can't walk and chew gum at the same time but if I walk, I get to where I need to be, and IF I chew gum that shit gets eat'n up.

For the life of me I can't understand how people can go out to lunch or dinner, sit at a table and NOT have a conversation with anyone AT the table, but are tapping away at their phones or taking photos of their food to send to the friends that AREN'T there.

Case in point, April and I were out to breakfast this past weekend and a nice looking young couple came into the "Hide Away" breakfast/lunch place in Lake Tahoe.  The atmosphere is quaint, and the food is MARVELOUS.  Carmel/Bacon French Toast with a glaze, IF you're asking....

The couple sit at a nice table for two right next to us.  I acknowledge their presence with my recommendation and then go back to chatting with my own lovely bride.

That's when I felt the awkwardness at hand.  They weren't looking at each other or talking, NOTHING.  Then the phones came out, they took pictures of my French Toast and sent them away, and then they were perusing their individual social media pages.  He check his look in the mirror no more than a dozen times, did two or three self portraits, and then ordered their meals.

I wanted to throw my toast at them!  (but it was too good of an eats)

I then noticed two Korean War Vets sitting next to each other watching what I was, and their look of distain matched mine.

We acknowledged each other gave the "chin down" Jr. High Hello nod and continued our breakfasts.

People aren't really living in the moment anymore.  They are too busy recording it for people that aren't around.  IF those people were really important enough, then they WOULD be around and enjoying the same moment.

Perhaps, this is part of the reason for the "Acceleration of Life".  Seems to me, that days go by quicker.  Months happen upon us faster, and year after year has no wait time.

While you are reading this on the internet, I think that the internet has solved many issues, and created others.

I want to ride my bike over to my friend Jim's house, open his back door and enter into his kitchen.  I want to rummage through his refrigerator and make a sandwich then go into his living room to see if he is home.

I don't want to text him!  I don't want to warn him about to crash his fridge.  I just want to DO IT!

I don't carry a phone.  Some folks are in awe of that.  I wonder, why be in awe when you don't have to carry one either?

When asked, "how do I get in touch with you?"  I respond, call my house.  I have a phone on the wall there, or better yet...just come over.

Ahhhh, I think since I've started to limit my time on the internet, it has given me pause to think that I might be onto something.

I think I am going to follow my friend Benny, and drop further off the grid.

But hey!  That's just me.
