It would be nice if Rhodes, Wendler, or I could remember when we started these NOV Meets. We've probably done 8 over the past 10 years. It's a pretty good streak.

Since we have all stopped competing in powerlifting (well, I sneak in a meet once in a while for fun), we get together to test our mettle. We don't compete against each other. We usually have very different goals. But just being together makes us push ourselves harder than we would alone.

In addition to training, we often hop on and do a Table Talk with Dave Tate. This past weekend was no exception. We had a great time with Dave. You can check that out here:

On top of training, we get together to break balls, watch movies, and eat Popeye's Fried Chicken. I highly recommend traveling to meet up with friends to train hard and hang. I have had more fun doing this over the years than any powerlifting meet I have ever competed in.

For my NOV, I did The Wendler Walrus. That was 500 bodyweight squats, 300 pushups, and 100 pull-ups. The standard goal for that workout is 1:00. I never looked at the clock and ended up finishing in 48:06.

What that time tells me is that my training and conditioning work are on point. The muscles and respiratory system handled their tasks well.

As we did that on Saturday, coming back and training on Monday was not the best idea. I think the Saturday DOMS kicked in as I was working out on Monday. It felt like a bear mauling.

To sum up, it was a great time. Rhodes and Wendler are like brothers to me. I can't wait to do it again. Grab some friends and do it yourselves.
