Ever see a guy who doesn't really look like he even lifts... but he's got veins running up and down his arms like they're a roadmap?

Or how about the guy who has a good amount of fat to go with his muscle, but he's as vascular as a Mr. Olympia contender on stage?

Those two scenarios aren't uncommon, but they can be confusing. In this video, I shed some light on three different ways that will help you to look more vascular.

Three Ways to Get Your Veins Popping

While these aren't the only strategies to improve vascularity, I think it's fair to say they're the most straightforward.

  1. Increase bloodflow. Vasodilators (like some preworkout supplements), PEDs that increase red blood cell counts, and even just getting a pump will all likely help you to appear more vascular.
  2. Build more muscle. Bigger muscles usually will be more vascular muscles. They can seem to almost push your veins against your skin from the inside out, which is what gives some bodybuilders the freaky "contest shape" appearance.
  3. Get less fat. With less adipose tissue between the skin and muscles, it's easier to see vascularity even while relaxed.

One last note: for the most part, vascularity just looks cool. It probably won't improve your placings as a physique athlete, and definitely won't do anything for your total. However, improved bloodflow, greater levels of muscle mass, and lower body fat will help any strength athlete realize his or her potential in the long run.
