I run a very tight program in my gym. I have a list of rules that I made up over the 55 years of experience that I have within the confines of "Athletic Preparation" most of which keep people from injuring themselves.

If it can make you permanently disfigure or kill you, I've done it.

Because I have that going and the fact that I've trained many successful people to the positions they needed to be in, I earn my income from the time I open the doors to my gym daily until the time I leave to go home.

Understand, people pay me. They pay me well. They aren't paying for the luxurious locker rooms, or the saunas and whirlpools. They aren't paying for the tanning beds or any of the amenities that a lot of gyms offer because I DON'T HAVE those things. What I have is that Physical Education, and Sports Science background AND that 55 years! That's what they compensate me for.

When a Cheesecake recipe calls for 1/4 cup of sugar and you add a FULL CUP, the result is questionable at best. So when you add or take away things that I have in the day's recipe for a workout, who the fuck knows what you're going to get on the other end of the session?

My biggest concern is the increased risk of injury. Serious injury! Ego lifting is stupid.

While David Goggins is inspirational, 99% of the people who listen to his stuff are NOT David Goggins! He can hype you up and he can also KILL you with HIS methods. It isn't CHEESECAKE anymore.

I ask people to improve 1%-5% daily. If you get to your max and never get to that ceiling again, it is quite depressing. However, if you come up to it, then leave something for the next time, then leave a little bit more and surpass that ceiling or max point, and then set your sites on the NEXT SMALL increment, you'll have a larger degree of success and reinforcers.

If you are EGO lifting just to be the strongest in the gym and have those bragging rights, I can put someone else in the gym who can kick your ass and put you back in your place. That place, Mr. David Goggins? Yeah, at the right hand of God the Father.

Hurting someone is something any monkey can do. It takes a COACH to get you stronger without sacrificing the activities of daily living, health, and orthopedic issues.

You can choose to put the full cup of sugar in the recipe, but you can do that and save yourself a lot of money by doing it in someone else's gym.
