I try to get to Aruba every summer. It‘s a super chill island and the weather is always awesome. The past two summers that I have gone I had severe back issues. The trip before that I had bad painful dental issue I had to deal with. Yet, I still always manage to enjoy myself.

This was the first summer I have felt well in a while. Now if you follow my log you would know down time is my enemy nowadays. I need to move to grease the wheel so to speak. So the plan was to train and condition frequently.

Training and conditioning are just such a big part of my life now. I like doing them. Maybe it‘s a bit obsessive and even masochistic, but it's who I am. I'm lucky my body permits it, so I'm going to honor it by constantly pushing it, even on vacation.

Don't get me wrong, there was lots of relaxing and fun had. It was probably the best vacation I have ever had. There was some good eating going on as well as some adult beverage consumption. Truth be told I don't often imbibe, so I'm quite the lightweight which is actually a good thing. I enjoyed many a sunset with my toes dug in the sand and sailing with the Captain. Good times.

Oh, I almost forgot, the trip got off to a very scary start. As Jess and I were getting our bags from the car at the airport, I realized I accidentally left the bag with my cpap machine at home. A huge shot of panic ran through my body. I have forgotten my cpap on two overnights in the past years and my sleep was horrible as a result. However, I took a moment to think, I am feeling better than I have in as long as I can remember and I'll get through it. In the end, I think I slept just as well as without the cpap. I will say this serves as a testament to all the hard work that I have put in over the years.

Our first two workouts were done in a small gym at the resort. The other sessions were done at an outside obstacle course we found while walking. It was a cool option to train outside in the sun and the sand.
