The conversation has risen a few time over the last couple days about "getting stuff done", and how today's new employee does and doesn't do it.
Although I am not a big participant in technology, it does have it's benefits. I also has equal part weakness too.
Seems as if "sending text messages" and then waiting for a response is the preferred method of communication, at least here in the tech world of California. With that the question comes when the recipient receives it and subsequently answers it. I responded with...why not pick up the phone and call the person? Better yet, why don't you pick your fat ass up, walk down the hall, bang on the dude's door and tell him you need to meet NOW if not in a few minutes.
When it comes to getting shit done, I never wait for the other person. I take full responsibility and thus take immediate action.
I often joke about getting stuff done early too. Since I'm up and at it by 0300, I will muse that I get more work done by mistake before the sun rises than most do planned all week.
Throw the text out. Go talk to people! If you can't visit them, talk and I mean ACTUALLY talk as in communicate as in commune with a PERSON via Alexander Graham Bell's invention.
Still, I like knocking on doors. When that doesn't work...kick 'em in!
