Many know my wife as a sweet balance to me and my ways which can be a little abrasive at times. I call her my attorney because she knows when to "object" or when to let things slide with me.
She has an IQ of around 10 billion, speaks five languages fluently, and has her advanced degrees along with being a total hottie with unreal athleticism especially when it comes to skating.
I often joke about how God put me in her life just to keep her humble. But I have a really cool contract with my God...so I have that going for me.
Anyway, one of her favorite things to remind me is this single question, "What is the outcome you desire?" and "If the objectives don't meet the goal, then why bother?"
I use that in program design for my team as well as many other aspects of my life. We all get caught up "spinning our wheels" from time to time and need a bit of redirection to keep us on task. I see someone doing something that I think is really cool and how I can incorporate it into the plan, and then I hear her voice and I re-evaluate what I was just going to do.
If improving the bench lockout was the objective for today, why the heck do I want to do any exercise that doesn't HELP to meet that end? I've done it, you've done it. We have wasted time and energy rather than focus on the goal of the day, month, our freak'n LIVES!
Add this to your plan when you review it...What is the outcome you are working for? And make sure you work on making THAT happen!
