For athletes with physical limitations, it can often be difficult to find a competitive atmosphere. Strength sports and fitness challenges are designed for the typical able-bodied athlete, with little thought given to how handicapped fitness enthusiasts may be able to alter the activities for competition.
CrossFit Rubicon in Vienna, Virginia has created a CrossFit Games event for these particular athletes. The Working Wounded Games, hosted regularly at CrossFit Rubicon, is designed, in the words of CrossFit, to "level the playing field for severely wounded veterans and permanently injured civilians."
