I am currently in Phase #1 of my program for the 2015 United States Strongman National Championships. This phase is focused on increasing my speed on the yoke, increasing my overall lower body strength and increasing my bodyweight. I'll also be working on my event technique. I'm also raising an amazing infant boy, while still working, training and living life. My next competition will be the USS National Championship in late June where I'll be competing in the 220# class.

Since I hadn't been able to train the deadlift for the past 7 weeks I knew I needed to see where I was to set up my peaking phase for Nationals. For anyone that knows me and my training, they also know my deadlift responds best to deadlifting. So even though I was squatting, SSB squatting and hitting good mornings during my time away from deadlifts, when it came time to get a gauge of where I was my deadlift felt like hell.

I swear I felt like I had completely forgotten how to deadlift. My technique was off. I was pulling super slow. I worked up to a weight I thought I'd hit for a single, but knew it wasn't going to be easy that day. I broke it off the ground, but then my hips shot up out of position and I stopped the lift.

I was pretty pissed to say the least. However I decided to push through and finish the session and not be a little bitch.
