I'm currently in the early stages of preparing for 2016 USS Strongman Nationals which will be held on June 11th, 2016. My training focus is to continue to get stronger overall, continue adding some size and start working in strongman events again. I'm working with teammate Mike Mastell on my programming.

Events felt great this week. I trained a little earlier than usual due to a packed schedule on Saturday, but that had no negative effect. I'm really starting to get the hang of the Conan's Wheel. From my pick, to how I carry, to my stride - it's feeling really good. Even though the yoke isn't at Nats this year, I'm still training it for GPP. It felt really good and I'm actually feeling somewhat fast with a yoke... finally. I also am using a shorter stride and really able to feel my hamstrings pulling me forward on each rep. I've heard many guys who are fast on the yoke talk about pulling themselves forward with their lead leg. I had tried it a few times and it either didn't feel right, or once I strained my hamstring. So I stopped. Then all of a sudden recently it just started happening. I'm thinking some submax speed work on yoke/farmers probably have something to do with it. And the fact that I've just gotten stronger. Either way, even though yoke isn't at Nationals I'm excited how good it feels for once. After yoke we hit stones and they went great. My technique and speed is back and the stones felt light. Almost like loading beach balls. I'm looking forward to how everything comes together over the next 11 weeks. I sure know I'm really happy with were I'm at this far out.
