I'm currently in the early stages of preparing for 2016 USS Strongman Nationals which will be held on June 11th, 2016. My training focus is to continue to get stronger overall, continue adding some size and start working in strongman events again. I'm working with teammate Mike Mastell on my programming.

Today went pretty good. I've been fighting off a cold for a few days, but nothing that really affects my training. Today I went heavy on farmers and actually used straps for the first time on these. Typically these are a grip event, but today the goal was to tax my spinal erectors quite a bit. Mission accomplished. Since I don't have a fingal finger implement to train on, I rigged one up the best I could. I put our 12 inch log in a landmine attachment. Then loaded the end of the log with bumper plates. I'd lift it from the ground to the point were my arms were fully extended and the log was almost straight up and down. Then I'd bring it back down to the start position and repeat. While it's not perfect for training this events, it's all I have at the moment. I'm planning to travel and get my hands on a fingal finger implement a couple times before Nationals gets here. Stones felt good and strong today. I'm starting to get my technique dialed back in on these and it feels good.
