Well, my first attempt with a singly ply suit went ok but I'm not convinced this is the way to go for me just yet. Still recovering from my shoulder surgery I somehow thought single ply would be easier on my shoulder but it's not the case, I still have lots of work to do on my shoulder.

I handled the suit ok according to Ken and Barry but the next day my low back was killing me. I have learned to squat without back pain for the last 7 years post spinal decompression so having back pain makes me just want to stick to raw and keep going for my goals in the raw for this year.

My training on Wed was 1 Hour of Kettlebell Hell with the girls then out to the Man Cave with the boys.

Squats in a single ply suit

Bar x 5/5

135 x 5/5

185 x 3/3

255 x 1/1/1/3 (I need work on my shoulders, my right shoulder is acting like a chicken wing)

I was sweating like a rented mule as this was certainly a different type of training for me.

Deadlifts

Just trying to get down in a suit was a challenge never mind trying to get some air in my stomach.

276 lbs x 1/1/1  This felt so stupid heavy when It should have been easy for me.

Conclusion: Much much more respect for geared lifters after trying one little session. The marks on my legs I can't even, the guys said those are great that means the suit worked.

How my body felt the next day with my back and shoulder I have decided for this year anyway to continue to lift raw.

I will have my platform Debut in June at the RPS Nationals in Brantford, it won't be my best but it will get me some strength and confidence back and get me on the platforms again.
