At this time my strongman schedule is not yet determined leading into the fall. I am slowly working back into grip training with several opportunities, goals and competitions on the horizon which may also include Highland Games late this fall. My training time has been extremely limited due to actual physical access to the equipment due to exploding gym hours and new members. While it's a great problem to have, I long for the days of having a home gym so I could train whenever I want to.
I think my approach with how I post my log over here is somewhat off. I often do not include daily activities that could or could not be considered "training". I call those things lifestyle unless they directly correlate to a competition, overall program or goal. For the past few weeks those lifestyle activities include throwing, cardio and some hiking.
Included in this time has been throwing with The Girl a minimum of one time per week in addition to attending sessions with her throws coach. Aside from the exposure to someone else's paradigm and the time benefiting The Girl, I am using this time to learn and apply to my own throwing for Highland Games. In short, my throwing is not so hot.
My focus has been to truly understand and apply the power position, appropriate foot position and the release. Each time i throw with her, I bring my stone along and apply everything she learned in her throws session to myself. This has been an area of significant weakness for me with Highland Games, so I am grateful for this opportunity.
