I'm catching up on training logs from traveling. So I'll be brief with this trip.

Yessie was competing at Goggin's USPA drug tested meet in Atlanta April 2nd. It was a great opportunity for us to travel, her to compete, us to catch up with some friends, and even put on a seminar.

So Yessie flew from Columbus to Atlanta Friday night before the meet. I drove from Pittsburgh to Atlanta all day Friday. ALL. DAY. I left at 9am and got in around 9pm. I wasn't in a hurry, stopped a few times, ate as much as I could even though most of it was fast food shit. So after a few energy drinks, some unmarked pills, and shitty food, I felt like garbage after getting into Atlanta. I checked into our AirBNB with a crazy cat lady then headed to the airport to get Yessie who had her flight delayed. Tornado warnings or some shit like that. Whatever. I pull into the airport and head to the departures, which splits into North and South gates. So I call her and ask which gate. She tells me definitely south gate. I head to south gate. She calls me back and says "I'm at N2." Silence. We both realized she was at the North gate. A highway turn around and 20 minutes later I was at the other side of the airport to pick her up. We crushed Chipotle and went to bed around midnight to wake up at 6am so she could weigh in.

The short of it- Yessie did great. I picked some bad third attempts for her, but she went 7/9 and hit a 20lb total PR. Steve and his crew ran a great meet. Everything moved smoothly and we were done in plenty of time to head to Augusta.

We met two of my college teammates out for dinner. Marlon and Kyle...both on their own could make me laugh hysterically. All three of us together was a shit ton of fun. Even Yessie commented after we left- you laugh differently with them. Reason being...I spent four years of my life with those guys. We have this weird bond that can't be broken. I wasn't even that close with Marlon when we were teammates. We had a great friendship and a mutual respect, but to see him and what he's accomplished now regarding his career and personal life, as well as Kyle, makes me proud to be their friends.

Sunday morning we headed to I3P in Augusta. It's about a 5000sq ft facility that is outfitted with 90% of EliteFTS's website. There were a couple machines I didn't recognize, but it was a powerlifter's dream. Two monos, two racks, weights and GHR's and deadlift platforms all over. They just recently opened and are already busy. They'll do well because of their facility and because Brandon and Marlon are really personable fellas.

We had 11 attendees, which was a perfect size for Yessie and I especially with her being run down from her meet. We started with a  Q and A to figure out what the attendees wanted to learn. Other than the standard technique and programming questions, they wanted somethings to help with hip health, how to peak for a meet, and bench programming 'for an old guy.'

We had everyone squat, tweak some technique, and then go over what assistance work everyone should be doing to fix their deficiencies. And then the same for bench and deadlift. It was nice having a small group so we could cover these things for individuals instead of blanketing the issues.

Then I drove back to Columbus, this time with a snoring Yessica Martinez next to me.
