As you can probably tell from the title of my log. It was not a good day.

As I had mentioned in my previous log, I was a little sick the week of the meet. I thought it had mostly subsided by Friday, but as I was warming up it started to become clear that I was nowhere near 100%.

My last warm-up with 600 to a one board was easy, but a little more sluggish than it had been a couple of weeks prior. As I went through my attempts, I felt progressively sicker, even feeling a little lightheaded on the way out to my third.

A smart lifter would have shut it down, but I am not that lifter.

I opened with 650 and missed it just short of lockout.

Seeing the writing was on the wall, but figuring "fuck it", I jumped to 700 on my second.

Missed it in the same spot.

Tried it again and missed just short of lockout for a third time.

Here is the second attempt with 700. They all looked just like this

Not much to say here. Training went unbelievably well, my gear was fitting well, but being sick, there just wasn't anything I could do.

I'm pissed and embarrassed, but that's just a part of the sport.

Not sure where to go from here. I do want to take another stab at 700 very soon, but I'm not sure if I want to shut it down and go through a whole other training cycle, or hit another meet in a few weeks when I'm feeling better. Given how close I was, I am reasonably sure I can snap back and hit it, but I will know for sure after a few weeks of training.

I want to thank my training partners and friends who showed up to the meet to support me, as well as elitist (as always) for the constant support, both for me as a sponsored athlete, and for everything they do to support powerlifting as a whole.

Could be worse I suppose. A bad day powerlifting is still a day spent powerlifting.
