I'm back, Pitches. I'm back.

Right, a Pitch Perfect reference. Why not, this is what I expect to be the lowest of training and it's only up from here so I have nothing to lose at this point.

A big thanks to Dave, Sheena and you all for being patient during my hiatus. I am so happy to get back into the gym, refocus to work towards some goals and have meaningful training to post.

2016 will be my last run with my strength goals and competing, unless something changes along with way. I completely dig having two kids who love lifting, strength and excelling in their own athletic endeavors. They are just getting warmed up with their goals and competing. Their goals will always be my #1 goals and I want all focus and resources to be on them.

As for me, if you've been following my log over the years, you might remember how important my grip goals are. I have very specific things I want to accomplish, with my grip goals being high on that list. Strongman will also be on the Final Hurrah list. More on that stuff later.

My lifts are in the toilet, I am not sure exactly how bad it is yet. The positive spin is this is an opportunity for me to look at things where they are now (not so hot), rebuild and excel to accomplish my goals.

I did head to the gym this morning to assess grip. It needs work and I need focus and accountability. Looking over my training the past couple of years, I made the best grip gains having Jedd in my corner programming, dissecting and holding my nose to the grindstone. I am so happy that he's agreed to work with me again and get these goals checked off!

As for this morning...

It was rough with mixed reviews trying to get a baseline of where I am currently at on some things.

Rolling

Gripper Work - All around pretty sweet.

Worked my way up some light grippers, in total 7x10

COC 2 - 1x3

Gripper Hold W/5lb plate - 22 seconds

This one hurts to talk about....

Double Overhand Axle Rack Pulls

135, 1x3
225, 1x3
245, 1x1
265, 1x0 Ouch. This is always the bottom end of guaranteed weight so this is somewhat troubling.

3" Block Pinch - worked up to 45 lb max.

So that's that. We calculate my training plan later this week, and then I will need to touch base with Big Bald to iron out the rest of my programming. There's nowhere to go but UP!!

I started with a Pitch Perfect reference and I'm ending with it. So happy to have gotten my "flashlight" back so I can get to work!
