First main bench day since moving to Calgary
The few training sessions after the move have proved to be harder than expected. Yesterday's bench session actually didn't feel awful, which was a big win in my books. I know that 185 is something I can bench even on my worst day, so I went into training with the goal of benching 185 for sets of five, and paying attention to my body while warming up. While it took a little while to feel completely in the groove, the weight moved well enough, not perfect or snappy, but well enough, and I'll take that. My goal for next week's main bench day is to use the same weight, but focus on pausing my reps. I'm doing this to keep to weight light, but it will force me to stay tighter and put more effort in.

This was actually a really fun day for me overall. It started off with my first day at my new job, which went pretty well. Then a training session at the new gym, and then I got to check out the Calgary Stampede for the first time.
The stampede is a 10 day rodeo/exhibition/fair held in Calgary every year. Everyone dresses up as cowboys to watch real cowboys do rodeo events.
The Stampede ended up being larger than I was expecting. There was well over a hundred food trucks spread out, a midway, a rodeo, an exhibition center filled with animals, and just about anything rodeo related you could imagine.
My favorite parts were seeing baby sheep for the first time, watching chuck wagon racing, a 'guess your weight' booth where they thought I was 20lbs heavier, and eating deep fried cookie dough.
