When I heard that my friend, Kacey Baines was running a charity meet for the Montreal Childrens Hospitol, I knew I had to be there. This ended up being a good opportunity to test out my equipped bench, and give me an end point to training in the shirt.
While being an IPF sanctioned event, they had me as an 'expo lifter', meaning I could still lift in my METAL gear, even though only the raw METAL gear is approved in IPF.

I left for my weigh in that morning, knowing that I wasn't going to hit 63kg wasn't a stress at all for me. I was able to eat on the drive, drink delicious coffee and water. Who in their right mind would cut for an expo bench only meet anyways?
Life is too short.
I arrived exactly on time for weigh ins, 65kg (I'll write a post about why my BW is so high on another day).
They put the bench only with the 3 lift competitors, so there was a lot of sitting and waiting and sitting and waiting. I came pretty close to napping on the bench.020

When I finally got to start warming up, I claimed the only bench that adjusted low enough to actually use with my stubby arms. A bunch of moustached boys came to use the bench too, and were so very very slow. They had no idea how to convert kg to lbs, and also didn't understand that I needed to take more warm up attempts and put my equipment on. This made for a very rushed last few warm up attempts. I managed to finish my last warm up at about 5 out. Thank goodness my opener was easy peasy!

107.5kg / 236.5 lbs - This weight actually surprised me it went up so fast!

112.5kg / 247.5 lbs - Bar path was way off on the way down, but still had good speed coming up

117.5kg / 258.5 lbs - miss
My bar path was much better coming down, but I just couldn't lock my right elbow before the head judge called to take it away. I was frustrated because I hadn't given up on the weight yet.  (Check out my face at the end of the video when I stand up and see 3 whites, when I already know it was a miss)

Overall, this was a really fun day! I was happy to see all the hard work Kacey put into the meet turn into a huge success raising over 7500$.

Thanks to my handler/training partner John for helping me out!13100771_10153541694370233_2672013182973056116_n
