Earlier this month, I competed at CPU Nationals, placing second in the 63kg open category with an 825 lb total, just one pound behind first place.
With the guidance of Steve Goggins, I am in pursuit of greatness, both on and off the platform.

There's a couple good places in town! I work and lift out of the Goodlife on Queensview drive where we have a bunch of powerlifting goodies (specialty bars, chalk, etc) that if your friend asks nicely we would be glad to share.
Some more powerlifting friendly gyms in town are, Dynamo Barbell, Hostyle Conditioning, Ultimate Fitness, and most YMCA's in the city are very powerlifting friendly. These gyms are very spread out so it may come down to whatever is closest to your friend! I think Dynamo may be his best bet though as it is group style training.
