This April, I competed at CPU Nationals, placing second in the 63kg open category with an 825 lb total, just one pound behind first place.
With the guidance of Steve Goggins, I am in pursuit of greatness, both on and off the platform.

Well sometimes training doesn't go exactly as planned, but what really matters is what you learn from it.

When I saw what Steve had written in my program for the day all I was a little wary, 290x5 from a deficit? Oh well, he thinks I can do it, so I'll just do it.
Warming up to it felt great, things were moving well, no issues at all.
I loaded 290 on the bar and set up the same as usual. First rep was OK, but the rest of the reps were really challenging, and I wasn't able to get a fifth rep in.
I need to keep the bar tighter into me, and take more controlled breaths between reps.

At the end of the day, 290x4 from a deficit is still a HUGE improvement on my deadlift, and I'll take it!
